"Back to Brisbane" - Feature Documentary

"Back to Brisbane" is one of 7th Wave Pictures' original digital video productions that tells the story of Australian aboriginal artist Dr. Pamela Croft Warcon, who was a child of Australia's Stolen Generation. The Stolen Generation is a term used to describe the Australian Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children of mixed descent, who were removed from their families by Australian government agencies and church missions. This practice occurred from approximately 1900 to 1972, under the ruse of child welfare, but was really all about assimilating these children into white Western society.

Pamela's mother, Edie, was forced to give Pamela up for adoption when Pamela was only 6 years of age. The impact on Pamela both as a child and now as an adult is overwhelming. 7th Wave Pictures' "Back to Brisbane" is a story of reconciliation, cultural identity, and family reconnection. Prior to beginning principle photography, director Matt Ruggles conducted pre-interviews with Pamela and did research on the internet. Video production began in November 2005 in Australia, and in early 2010, we completed the documentary.

Our next documentary is a short, behind-the-scenes account of a production team's first 48 Hour Film Project. The project requires a team to cast, write, shoot, and edit a short film in only 48 hours. Matt Ruggles and Mike Pearce followed team Boondogglers for one weekend. The short doc and the Boondogglers' short internet video production went on to play several festivals across the country.
